The most important point of the visit to Belarus was a meeting between Jacek Bogucki and the first Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus, Leonid Marinich. The Deputy Ministers confirmed the importance of and a need for the development of Polish-Belarusian cooperation in the field of agriculture, including in the field of trade in agri-food goods products, as well as scientific contacts.
During the meeting, Jacek Bogucki reiterated the postulates of cooperation with Belarus, which are of importance for Poland, particularly as regards access of Polish agri-food products to the Belarusian market (in particular, products of animal origin and some animals). In this context, Deputy Minister Marinich confirmed the provision included in the minutes of the 6th meeting of the Belarusian-Polish working group on cooperation in the field of agriculture, about the absence of the ban on importing beef, ruminant animals and their genetic material from Poland. He also confirmed a possibility of importing those products from Poland to Belarus based on veterinary certificates which had already been agreed. He stressed, however, that a prerequisite for carrying out the import is to obtain by the Belarusian importer an authorisation from the veterinary services in Belarus.
Moreover, the Belarusian Deputy Minister stated that for the purpose of further enhancing trade between our countries, it is important to develop rules taking into account the Polish membership in the European Union and the Belarusian membership in the Eurasian Economic Union.
During his stay at PRODEXPO, Deputy Minister Bogucki visited the stands of the National Support Centre for Agriculture, Trade and Investment Promotion Section and National Chamber of Commerce, and also participated in a press conference organised as part of the campaign Flavours of Europe – Quality and Tradition which has been implemented in the Belarusian market since 2016.
