Today, Minister Krzysztof Jurgiel met in Brussels with Commissioner Phil Hogan in order to discuss the following issues:

- EU support allocated for the eradication of African swine fever (ASF) in Poland,
- aid application due to avian influenza in Poland,
- joint conference on innovation in agriculture in Poland,
- official visit of Commissioner P. Hogan to Poland in October 2017.
Minister Jurgiel informed the Commissioner about the comprehensive measures taken by Poland in order to reduce the spread of ASF. Also, he pointed to a need for support from the EU budget for holdings situated in the areas subject to restrictions. It was agreed that further work would be carried out so as to develop a final form of an aid scheme.
The head of the Polish Ministry of Agriculture also provided the information about a request to be submitted to the European Commission on support for producers who had suffered losses due to avian influenza.
In addition, the interlocutors agreed that in 2018 Poland, together with the European Commission, would organise a conference on innovation in agriculture.
Commissioner Hogan thanked Minister Jurgiel for the invitation to pay an official visit to Poland in October. The main subject of the talks will be the future of the Common Agricultural Policy after 2020, including the 1st pillar regarding direct payments and 2nd pillar regarding rural development.
