The decision was announced during the 6th economic consultations between Poland and Taiwan in Taipei on 21 October 2016, which was attended – among others – by the Chief Veterinary Officer Włodzimierz Skorupski. The meeting was co-chaired by the Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Development Tadeusz Kościński and the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) Wei-Fuu Yang. The economic consultation mechanism has been operating since 2010 as the main tool for supporting Polish-Taiwanese bilateral cooperation.

The completed procedure is the culmination of several years of efforts made by the Veterinary Inspectorate, the Warsaw Trade Office in Taipei, and the Polish Ministry of Agriculture, which were initiated in 2006.

A total of 21 companies acquired approval for exporting poultry meat. The exported goods must meet the requirements set out in:

a bilaterally agreed veterinary health certificate for poultry meat and poultry meat products exported to Taiwan,

– quarantine requirements for imports of poultry meat.
