Polish-Egyptian talks

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Krzysztof Jurgiel met today with Tarek Kabil, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Arab Republic of Egypt who pays a visit to Poland at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Finance Mateusz Morawiecki.

The meeting focused primarily on economic cooperation. Minister Krzysztof Jurgiel asked for support in the fastest possible finalisation of procedures related to the access of Polish agri-food products to the Egyptian market. He also informed about the promotional activities of Poland on the Egyptian market, including the Polish stand at the Food Africa Cairo in April this year. He emphasized that the Polish research institutes were interested in developing the cooperation with Egyptian partners.

Minister Tarek Kabil discussed the projects of Egyptian agriculture modernisation, including the use of know-how with respect to irrigation, seed production and agricultural machinery, as well as the plans to purchase cows.

Minister Krzysztof Jurgiel referred to Polish experience in transformation and modernisation of the agri-food sector and proposed to formalise the planned activities under a bilateral cooperation agreement.

Egypt is one of the leading recipients of Polish agri-food products in Africa. The value of exports of those products last year amounted to EUR 112.7 million.
