Polish-Belarusian talks

Today, Minister Krzysztof Jurgiel received the Belarusian delegation under the leadership of Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Boleslav Pirshtuk.

The meeting was also attended by Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus in Poland, Aleksandr Averyanov.

The talks focused on the prospects of trade and investment cooperation in the field of agriculture between Poland and Belarus.

Minister Jurgiel expressed his satisfaction with the lively contacts in the area of agriculture at the level of administration of both countries. He assured that the Polish side is interested in further development of cooperation with Belarus. At the same time, he stressed that in order to deepen economic relations even further it is necessary to create appropriate conditions for market access, to eliminate the existing barriers and restrictions to trade. In this context, he expressed his hoped for the abolition of the existing restrictions on imports of certain agri-food products from Poland by Belarus.

Boleslav Pirshtuk pointed out that Belarus, like Poland, gives much attention to development of agriculture. He said that both countries could strengthen cooperation in the field of agricultural processing.

Polish minister declared readiness to share experiences. In addition, he emphasised that the Polish Government is working on the Strategy for Responsible Development which should support investment activities of Polish entrepreneurs.
