Polish-Bangladeshi talks

Today, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Krzysztof Jurgiel received Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in the Republic of Poland, Muhammad Mahfuzur Rahman.

The meeting was mainly devoted to the prospects of economic cooperation. Minister Krzysztof Jurgiel asked for support in the fastest possible finalisation of the procedures associated with access to Polish agri-food products to the Bangladeshi market and for indicating possible areas of cooperation. He stressed also the interest in the development of business contacts, declaring its readiness to take activities aimed at helping establish business contacts between Polish and Bangladeshi companies in the food industry.

Ambassador Muhammad Mahfuzur Rahman informed that of particular importance for Bangladeshi agriculture was the development of trade cooperation and in the field of food processing. In addition, he stressed that the Bangladeshi party was interested in importing Polish agri-food goods, especially cereals, sugar, beef, poultry and milk powder.

In 2015, in the field of trade, the value of trade in agri-food products between Poland and Bangladesh amounted to more than EUR 15 million. The main product for export are meat and offal flours, meals and pellets, and for import – tobacco and tobacco waste.
