Undersecretary of State, Ryszard Zarudzki, met today with Robert Johansson, chief economist at the US Department of Agriculture.

Johansson visited Poland in order to take part in a conference organised by the International Association of Agricultural Production Insurers (AIAG).
The aim of the meeting was to discuss various issues, inter alia models of agriculture in Poland and in the US, agricultural policy, trends on the global market, instruments to stabilise agricultural markets, impact of climate change on agriculture, renewable energy sources and experiences in the field of agricultural consulting.
Furthermore, Undersecretary of State Ryszard Zarudzki asked for support in the fastest possible finalisation of work related to the access of Polish agri-food products, including apples, poultry and tobacco, to the US market.
Since 2014 Poland has been experiencing a positive, growing balance in the exchange of agri-food products with the US. In 2016 the value of exports to the US amounted to USD 415.6 million, while the value of imports from the US amounted to USD 327.4 million.
