The meeting was held upon request of Tunisia. The objective of the meeting was to discuss current cooperation, including the issues related to developing the agreement on agricultural cooperation. Minister Jurgiel raised the most important issues concerning access of Polish agri-food products to the Tunisian market (inter alia, feedstuffs not containing ingredients of animal origin). He stressed the interest of Poland in the further development of the export of agri-food products to Tunisia, in particular, Polish cereals and sugar. The Polish Minister of Agriculture invited the Tunisian partners to become familiar with the Polish offer of the agri-food sector at the biggest fair and exhibition events organised in Poland and referred to the possibility of developing bilateral scientific cooperation.
Ambassador Sghaier Fatnassi outlined the situation of the Tunisian agricultural sector. He informed that Tunisia is the first exporter of olive oil in the world. In addition, popular export goods are, inter alia, dates, citrus fruits and ornamental plants. He stressed that Tunisia, because of its location, could become a platform for cooperation with the African continent. The Ambassador also declared the openness of the Tunisian market to Polish export goods.
